Louise Connacher is Director and Head of Employment at Leeds law firm, Lupton Fawcett. Although her offices are nearby, she often uses Club LS1 to meet contacts for less formal meetings. “It’s much easier to have a private conversation in the Club than a local coffee shop or restaurant; I think that my guests have appreciated the Club’s quiet and discreet surroundings.”
However, Louise says the most important benefit of being a Member is meeting new people through the networking lunches and other events. She said, “There’s something about the atmosphere that makes these events friendlier and more approachable than others I attend locally – which is important because it makes it easier to follow the contacts up later.”
Yorkshire Insurance Brokers was set up two years ago by Lee Freeman and Kevin Yu and they have been Members of Club LS1 from the start. Lee said, “We use it as often as possible for meetings, networking, coffee, breakfasts, lunches – anything really. It’s especially good for seeing clients or prospects as, without exception, they are always very impressed by the place and of course, the food. Many of them now ask that we meet them at the Club rather than our offices.”
Kevin added, “The environment is smart yet casual, maintaining a dignified air without feeling over-bearing or pretentious and, above all, has the best service in Leeds! The place also seems to have a mysterious ability to keep people bang on-topic and focused when you need them to be, yet let them go comfortably off-topic when you need that too.”
