Club LS1, based at 3 Albion Place in Leeds, has won the award for the prestigious Proprietary Club of the Year at the National Club Mirror Awards.
The awards recognise the commitment of clubs, committees and individuals who work to ensure a healthy future for their club.
David Criddle, Chairman of the new Club LS1, said “it is fantastic for us to receive this new accolade which recognises that we on the way to realising our vision of a place where leaders meet and leaders develop.”
Those that were also nominated for the category were very highly regarded and well-established Clubs across the UK such as 29 Royal Exchange Square in Glasgow.
Director of Quality, Moria Criddle, and Erica Baldwin, the Club’s Quality Manager were presented with the award in Manchester. Moira smiled "We are absolutely thrilled to receive this award as it recognises just how far Club LS1 has come over the past three years – as with any new business venture, it has been a great deal of hard work.” Paying tribute to the team, Moira added “it’s thanks to our high quality standards, unique membership offering and excellent staff that has helped is secure this achievement."
Yorkshire Day is an increasingly important event in the regional calendar, which is why we celebrated it with one of the latest organisations to make its home at 3 Albion Place - the Yorkshire Society. The menu included Whitby crab, a selection of the region’s best cheeses and, of course, Yorkshire puddings to accompany the roast beef welcomed to the table by the Chairman of the Yorkshire Society Keith Madeley. The dinner was full to capacity with a waiting list, so be sure to book early next year!
Anyone visiting the Club will have noticed five eye-catching, sculpted stone seats on Albion Place. Created by artist Peter Yarwood, they were unveiled in July as part of Leeds Council’s new £1.3 million regeneration project for the street. This was funded in part by private sector companies, including 3 Albion Place.
The event was attended by over 60 of the city’s key professionals, including Councillor Barry Anderson who said, “For a long time, this was where the city’s leaders met and it’s heartening to see the building and Club LS1 back in their rightful place at the centre of Leeds’ professional community.”
